The Treaty of Versailles was a peace treaty that was signed after World War One had ended in 1918. The treaty was signed at the Versailles Palace near Paris, and that's where the treaty got its name from. The Versailles Palace was the best place to sign the treaty because of its size, it accommodated hundreds of people that were involved in the process of signing the treaty. The main points of the Treaty was:
- Germany had to accept the blame for starting the war.
- Germany had to pay MILLIONS of dollars called reparations for the damage done during the war.
- Germany was forbidden to have submarines or an air force. They could only have an army of 100,000 men and a navy of only 6 battleships. Their military power was weakened.
- Germany lost many territories in Europe and their colonies were given to France and Britain.
